Canyoning trip
to Lake Garda

Exciting canyoning weekend
at the “delightful Lake Garda”

Join us for a long weekend. Lake Garda is not only a must for mountain bikers, but also for canyonists! There are many impressive gorges that will enchant you. We spend the night together in bungalows at the campsite in Riva. From here we start great canyoning tours every day. The gorges around Lake Garda leave nothing to be desired. Regardless of whether you are a sporty beginner, repeater or advanced, everyone gets their money’s worth here. The Vajo dell’Orsa is one of many gorges, which is extremely popular due to its length and the many varied passages (slides, jumps, waterfalls and clear pools).

After the action-packed canyoning tours we go to the lake, on the banks of which we treat ourselves to a delicious Italian coffee or a creamy ice cream in the afternoon and enjoy the “Dolce Vita”. Together we review the days again, sit comfortably together and enjoy regional delicacies in an osteria (restaurant).

procedure

When coming from Germany on the A22 Brenner motorway, you will notice immediately when you have reached the south side of the Alps. Passing South Tyrol the valley of the Etsch winds its way down to Bozen, past well-known places like Sterzing or Brixen and the mountains of the Val Gardena.

There the glacier-shaped valley opens up and it doesn’t take long until you pass Trieste, reach the exit “Rovereto Sud-Lago di Garda Nord” and drive over the cross valley to Torbole. Shortly passed the roundabout and already had a view of the entire Lake Garda. Arrived! Now it is not far to Riva del Garda for camping.

Arrival of all travel participants by 9:00 p.m. The next 3 nights we will stay in a bungalow at the Brione campsite in Riva. From here we start great canyoning tours every day.

To get started with the canyoning tours on Lake Garda, we choose a not too difficult tour today. Go through all the safety instructions again and experience the famous, incised limestone gorges in northern Italy. Canyons like the Torrente Palvico, Torrente Vione or Brentino are on the plan today. We decide together which one to go for, based on group skills, weather and water level.

Then we stroll through the old town of Riva del Garda or if you like, you can also borrow a via ferrata set from us and conquer one of the many via ferratas around Arco and Riva. Of course, a real Italian ice cream should not be missing.

The Vajo dell’Orsa is one of many gorges, which is extremely popular due to its length and the many varied passages (slides, jumps, waterfalls and clear pools). Located on the back of Monte Baldo, we first have to drive a little to reach the canyoning parking lot. A wonderful hike leads us first steeply uphill and then along the edge of the gorge into the canyoning valley. Again and again we try to catch a glimpse of the canyon, but the canyon is too narrow and cannot be seen – it doesn’t reveal its secrets so quickly.

Arrived at the starting point of the tour, we take a short break, put on our wetsuits and start to reveal the secrets of the canyon. Small jumps and abseiling points over the waterfalls let us warm up quickly and we reach the dark passage of the canyon – cut so tightly that almost no daylight shines in – mystical!

Go on! After more abseiling points and jumps, the gorge opens, large boulders lie in the creek bed, the river turns – at the end of the passage there is another great double abseil point and we have reached the end of the canyon.

If we want we can add the little Brentino (the lower part of the Vajo dell’Orsa) – we are already practiced!

A short hike takes us from there back to the cars.

On the last day we keep it open which canyon we will enter together. The evening before, we simply choose something great that everyone is interested in. Afterwards we enjoy the Mediterranean “Dolce Vita” a little, let the days pass in review, sit comfortably together and enjoy regional delicacies in an osteria (restaurant).

Satisfied and happy, we start our return journey.
