Canyoning in Italy’s “Imposing Chiavenna”!

Breathtaking, beautiful, definitely eventful – Chiavenna in Lombardy, located between the two spectacular alpine passes Maloja and Splügen to Switzerland, the small community is nestled between high mountains in the valley floor. Chiavenna is famous for its historic town center, its restaurants and wonderful views of the famous Bergell mountains with the Piz Cengalo and Piz Badile and the Acquafraggia waterfall, at the foot of which we will also spend the night.

Between Chiavenna and Lake Como we find the Val Bodengo – a dream valley for canyonists. Long, deep and clear water – perfect for impressive canyoning tours in Italy. Join us for a weekend in the imposing Chiavenna.

Day 1 - arrival

Arrival is on Friday evening until 8 p.m. at the Acquafraggia campsite near Chiavenna. The next 2 nights we stay in our own tent at the foot of the famous waterfall.

From here we will start our canyoning tours for the next 2 days. You do not need any special prior knowledge for this canyoning trip.

Day 2 - Canyoning Val Bodengo

The “Bodengo” gorge of the “Boggia” river is a real classic, offers everything a canyoning heart desires and is on every canyonist’s to-do list. So it is also at the top of our list and is firmly planned. The Bodengo Gorge is divided into 3 parts. On the first day we take on the upper two parts of the great canyoning gorge and enjoy the great jumps and slides of Bodengo1 & 2.

In addition to the Torrente Boggia, there are other great gorges that will amaze you. We will decide together on site whether we will tackle the third part of Val Bodeno on the second day of canyoning or climb into the gorge of the Val Pilotera side valley.

At the end of an action-packed day of canyoning, we can organize a delicious meal for the group with regional delicacies in the bar Dunadiv – the hot spot for canyoning enthusiasts above Chiavenna.

Day 3 - Canyoning Val Pilotera & departure

As with all of our camps, we choose the gorges together with you the evening before. The canyoning tour in Val Pilotera, a side valley of the Bodengo valley, is planned for this day. Yesterday, at the end of the Bodengo 2 canyoning, we caught our first glimpses of the Val Pilotera, which the two rivers meet there.

Even when canyoning in Italy, jumping and sliding are only options and not a must. You can also abseil down these places at any time.

The end of the program is around 4 p.m. after the canyoning tour.

A good general health condition. Health impairments are taken into account in the route planning. Restrictions on dizziness and swimming skills as well.
